The club was founded in 2013 under the name of Academy to be the starting point of the club, on the hand of young Emirati who had an ambitious vision and great enthusiasm to create a football team, and then the decision was made to form the team through an important and creative vision.
Al Matiya Club achieved several different championships in previous years by participating in the five-a-side and seven-a-side football tournaments.
Al Matiya Club also won the ideal team in the championship of the crown prince of Umm Al Quwain in 2018, and continued to excel in the field by participating in the Institutional League Championship, in which it participated for the first time, as it was among the top teams in the league, after which the competition stopped suddenly and sports activities stopped due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
Today, we are back again as part of Al Matiya club’s preparations by hosting new sports activities, which is a cricket club and a hockey club, as part of planned strategy.
It is a sports institution that does not aim for financial profit as much as it is interested in preparing, qualifying and developing athletes of different age groups and levels of both genders, through correct sport programs, preparing future cadres for all sports, providing training programs and how to develop sports departments.
The club does not focus on graduating first-class players and athletes, but rather upbringing them behaviorally and culturally, which is more important than technical skills, and there are many players who have been lost by international sport in general because of their neglect of these important factors.
